ANNA SCHMALZ: I'm attorney Anna Schmalz. And I'm a partner here at the firm. I have been practicing law since 2004. I attended the University of Cincinnati and received a Bachelor of Arts in communication. Then I went onto Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law and received a juris doctorate. I've always been very passionate about helping other people. And while I was in law school, a family member of mine was arrested. I watched the trial. I watched the lies. Witnesses, their recollection--I don't know if it was wrong or they lied, but that's what made me realize I wanted to get into criminal defense. Prior to becoming a criminal defense attorney, I interned for both the Hamilton County Prosecutor and the City of Cincinnati Prosecutor's Office. Knowing what is on the other side and having been through it and assisted in prosecution of cases has allowed me to understand what it takes to prepare a vigorous defense for my clients.
